Rocking Around the Clock: Vanguard’s Unforgettable Sock Hop at Heritage Woods!

Put on your blue suede shoes! This week, our staff traded in our usual attire for Pink Ladies jackets and retro shades for an absolutely unforgettable 1950s Sock Hop. The best part? We only had to walk right across the street to join the party!

We are so incredibly thankful to be neighbors with Heritage Woods of Batavia. We cherish every opportunity we get to spend time with the wonderful residents and staff there, and this event was truly one for the books.

From the moment we walked in, the room was buzzing with energy. We were treated to an absolutely incredible live performance by Hugo, the "King of the Windy City" Elvis tribute artist. Hugo is remarkably talented and has actually been taking singing lessons his entire life—and his dedication certainly showed! His amazing voice had all of us—students, teachers, and residents alike—tapping our toes and singing along. The kids danced and danced until they could barely dance anymore, showing off their best retro moves on the dance floor.

When we needed a break from twisting and shouting, we cooled down with classic, creamy root beer floats and had a blast posing with fun 1950s photo booth props. It was so heartwarming to see our students mingling, laughing, and sharing the dance floor with our friends at Heritage Woods.

These intergenerational connections are such a special part of our community at Vanguard Gifted Academy. It is a joy to see our students building relationships and bringing so much light and energy to our neighbors.

Thank you so much to Heritage Woods of Batavia for inviting us over for such a rockin' good time. We can't wait for our next get-together!
