Where gifted children take root, blossom, and soar

Guiding Principles

Gaining admittance to Vanguard Gifted Academy is less a matter of competing for a spot than ensuring a fit. Children who possess the following traits are likely to experience the most benefits from the Vanguard model of gifted education:

  • Intellectually curious
  • Inspired by learning
  • Eager to contribute to the community
  • Responsive to direction
  • Respectful toward teachers and peers
  • Independent in work and study
    (at developmentally appropriate levels)
  • Open to new lines of thinking
  • Interested in problem solving and applying concepts

The best thing parents can do is to teach their children to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, enjoy effort, and keep on learning.

Options for reduced tuition can be discussed with the Head of School.

Vanguard Gifted Academy will respectfully avoid additional costs and special interest fundraisers, as tuition has been set to cover the expected costs for your child’s education.

Recruitment Policy

It is the policy of Vanguard Gifted Academy to recruit and enroll children without bias of race, color, nationality, sex, sexual orientation, religion, ancestry, or physical handicap.

Admissions Process

The benefit of a personalized program is that enrollment can occur any time during the year, so you are always welcome to inquire about Vanguard’s program and admissions process.

If you are interested in learning more…

Schedule a tour and/or visit a Showcase Night to see the types of work our students do and to meet students and families currently enrolled.

If you decide you would like to apply…

We will need to see IQ testing for children 6 years of age and older.  If you have not yet had testing, we can provide you with a list of professionals who perform IQ testing.  Generally, students whose Full Scale Score is 125 or higher will do well in the Vanguard program. For children under 6, teacher observation will be the criteria used.

We will also schedule a Visit Day for your child.  This will include participation in all three modules of the day and will allow your child to get to know what a Vanguard day would be like.

If the testing and Visit Day indicate a potentially good fit between your child and Vanguard, and you would like to pursue enrollment…

We will arrange a Family Meeting to discuss each of our observations from Visit Day and to determine if we have a mutual fit.
